Tom to Host the British Independent Film Awards

The British Independent Film Awards — best known as the BIFAs — has set a date and host for its postponed 2020 ceremony, pushed back and shifted online due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The ceremony, which usually takes place in early December, is now set to take place on Feb. 18, with Tom Felton — best known for playing Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter film franchise — on hosting duties.

The ceremony, being live-streamed on the BIFA Facebook page, will see Felton host live from Wales (where he’s currently filming the Sky original film Save the Cinema with Jonathan Pryce, Samantha Morton and Susan Wokoma), with winners announced during what organizers are describing as a “fun and freewheeling 45-minute program”. Alongside winner presentations, the show will feature live chats with jurors and famous film fans about this year’s crop of nominees.

“British film has been part of my life for as long as I can remember and now, more than ever, it is so important to support, recognize and celebrate those brilliant creatives who make them,” said Felton. “Film brings us all together and I’m delighted to be hosting this year’s British Independent Film Awards.”
